Is All Prophecy Fulfilled?
Note: There are approximately 2500 prophecies in the Bible.
What is the importance of prophecy being fulfilled?
Deuteronomy 18:21 But if thou shalt say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken? :22 Whatsoever words that prophet shall speak in the name of the Lord, and they shall not come true, and not come to pass, this is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; that prophet has spoken wickedly: ye shall not spare him.
Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the ancient things have come to pass, and so will the new things which I tell you: yea, before I tell them they are made known to you.
Note: The fulfillment of prophetic Scripture is proof of their truth.
The fulfillment of prophecy is the best defense for the legitimacy and relevance of the Bible, and gains great credibility when prophecies come to pass and are proven to be accurate.
This makes the Word of God more important and relevant with every fulfillment of prophecy that is written.
If a prophecy has not been fulfilled, then the prophet and the prophecy must be called into question.
What determines that a prophecy [prediction] is true?
The only way of proof is an accurate fulfillment.
Note: ‘There is going to be a flood and a great fire in the world this year’ is not a prophecy. Prophecies are more detailed than that.
Are prophecies more relevant after their fulfillment?
Luke 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Prophecies are important before the event, but they are more relevant and important after the fulfillment, because the prophecy is then proven.
The prophecies in the Scriptures have greater value after the event than the foretelling of the event.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
Note: If some scripture [prophecy] has not yet been fulfilled, then these prophecies are invalid because they have failed, and the whole Bible is fiction.
According to the Bible, have the ‘End Times’ already occurred?
Note: The Bible is the best answer concerning the time when prophecy was to be fulfilled.
The Bible states that the end times would follow soon after Jesus’ death.
Christians theology will try to explain their opinions by saying Christ was talking about a far future, and not the one in his generation.
The Bible states that all Scripture is for reproof, not part of it, or a theological point of view.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Note: If one claims to believe this verse, but stubbornly clings to the belief that the end time prophecies in the Bible have not occurred, then this single verse proves that their theological doctrine(s) are in error.
Christ, the disciples, and apostles taught that the end times were to happen soon.
What if all prophecy in Revelation is not fulfilled?
Example: The prophecies of Jesus Christ.
Jesus made many prophecies about the time of his appearing, and the end of the age.
What do the Scriptures say concerning a false prophet?
Deuteronomy 13:1 And if there arise within thee a prophet, or one who dreams a dream, and he gives thee a sign or a wonder,
:2 and the sign or the wonder come to pass which he spoke to thee, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye know not;
:3 ye shall not hearken to the words of that prophet, or the dreamer of that dream, because the Lord thy God tries you, to know whether ye love your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
:4 Ye shall follow the Lord your God, and fear him, and ye shall hear his voice, and attach yourselves to him.
:5 And that prophet or that dreamer of a dream, shall die; for he has spoken to make thee err from the Lord thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, who redeemed thee from bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded thee to walk in: so shalt thou abolish the evil from among you.
Deuteronomy 18:20 But the prophet whosoever shall impiously speak in my name a word which I have not commanded him to speak, and whosoever shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
Note: If all of the prophecies that Jesus stated have not come true [when he said that they would] then the Sanhedrin was correct in having Christ killed.
It is true that there were other motives, but in regards to the prophecies made by Jesus the fact still remains:
If the prophecies of Christ have still not yet been fulfilled [for at least 1900 years?] then the Sanhedrin was correct; according to the Scriptures.
If the prophecies made by Jesus did not come to pass as he said, then all else stated by Christ cannot be trusted either. Ex. the Kingdom of God; everlasting life, and his resurrection [just to mention a few].
If all prophecies made by any of the Old Testament prophets are not completely fulfilled, then they are all false prophets according to the Scriptures.
As stated before:
Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the ancient things have come to pass, and so will the new things which I tell you: yea, before I tell them they are made known to you.
Note: Isaiah says that the ancient things did come to pass. He also states the new things will too. If they have not, then wouldn’t Isaiah be a false prophet, according to the Scriptures?
If prophecy is all fulfilled, what now?
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Luke 12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end.
Note: His Government will continually be increased.
This is a continual addition of those who are found worthy.
Revelation 21:24 And the nations shall walk by its light, and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it. :25 And in the daytime (for there shall be no night there) its gates shall never be closed; :26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; :27 and nothing unclean and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Is the Bible correct, or the theologians?
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are from God; because many false prophets have have gone forth into the world.
Note: How does one test to know if a prophet is from God, or is a false prophet?
By the Scriptures.
