Israel’s Return

When was the return of Israel Biblically noted?

Note: Most theologians, Bible teachers, etc. present their view that the establishment of modern day Israel in 1948 was a fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

This is usually coalesced with the doctrine of futurism.

How does this collate with what the Bible says?

Isaiah 11:11 Then it will happen on that day that the Lord Will again recover the second time with His hand The remnant of His people, who will remain, From Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, And from the islands of the sea. :12 And He will lift up a standard for the nations, And will assemble the banished ones of Israel, And will gather the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 43:5 “Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, And gather you from the west. :6 “I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring My sons from afar, And My daughters from the ends of the earth,

Isaiah 54:7 “For a brief moment I forsook you, But with great compassion I will gather you.

Jeremiah 30:10 ‘And fear not, O Jacob My servant,’ declares the LORD, ‘And do not be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, And your offspring from the land of their captivity. And Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, And no one shall make him afraid.

Jeremiah 31:10 Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, And declare in the coastlands afar off, And say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.”

Jeremiah 32:37 “Behold, I will gather them out of all the lands to which I have driven them in My anger, in My wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them back to this place and make them dwell in safety.

Ezekiel 34:13 “And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and bring them to their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams, and in all the inhabited places of the land.

Ezekiel 36:8 ‘But you, O mountains of Israel, you will put forth your branches and bear your fruit for My people Israel; for they will soon come.

Ezekiel 36:24 “For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands, and bring you into your own land.

Ezekiel 36:28 “And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God.

Ezekiel 37:21 “And say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,” Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;

Note: These verses are some (not all) that are used by theologians and their followers, that claim this is the re-gathering of modern day Israel back to the land.

According to the Bible (and not the theologians) these prophecies relating to the return to the land and Jerusalem were made before their return from Babylon.

Therefore, all of these prophecies do not and cannot apply to our present period of time.

These prophecies were fulfilled, and the Bible does not give any of them a dual or second meaning. [See: 'Is All Prophecy Fulfilled'?]

After the return of the Israelites to Palestine, there were never any further prophecies in the Bible (or any implications) of another future restoration of Israel [or for anyone] to Palestine.

There were also no prophecies made or even hinted to, in the New Testament about a future restoration of Israel.  (And even if there were, they would have been applied to the return of the Judeans in approx. 135 A.D.)

The Zionist political movement was not, and is not a movement on the part of God or His Holy Word.

The right of the modern state of Israel to exist is not based on prophecy; a covenant from God; the Jews as being God’s chosen people; or on the covenant between Abraham with God.

It is based on international law; on the United Nations decision in 1947 to partition Palestine.

Note: According to the Bible, it is impossible for the modern day state of Israel as a nation to be under any kind of a covenant with God, because they have rejected God’s New Covenant.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Juda:

Hebrews 8:13 in the saying ‘new,’ He hath made the first old, and what doth become obsolete and is old {is} nigh disappearing.

Hebrews 12:24 and to a mediator of a new covenant — Jesus, and to blood of sprinkling, speaking better things than that of Abel!

It is a theological deception, to apply the prophecies that were made prior to the Israelites return to the land from Babylon, and apply them to the present day.

Doing so is another erroneous attempt to uphold a theological theory about a future Jewish restored kingdom in Palestine as taught by the futurist doctrine.

Numerous opinions are always encountered about what the Bible says and means, supported by concepts that are not sustained by a careful analysis of what is presented in the Bible.

Does this belief conform with the declaration of the Scriptures, and is one prepared to accept the Scriptural identification of the chosen people, even if the weight of positive proof designates them to be other than Jews?

Most Rabbis along with Christians and their ministers, evangelists, theologians, fundamentalists, Bible schools, seminaries, Bible interpreters and Bible teachers, will hold fast to their religious claims that Hebrews, Israelites, Israel, and Jews are interchangeable or synonymous.

There is no Biblical authority in the scriptures for the supplanting of the names or terms Hebrew, Israel, Israelites, Judah or Judean, with the titles of Jew or Jews.

Nowhere in the Bible is it stated or implied that Jews are God’s chosen people.

This declaration that is preached from the Christian pulpits is only alleged in the Jewish Talmud, and is not the Bible.

Therefore, it is untenable to hold to the position that Jews are God’s chosen people or that anyone else can be without proof. [See: 'God’s Chosen People'.]

How does the Bible demand this proof?

Ezra 2:59 And these are they that went up from Thelmelech, Thelaresa, Cherub, Hedan, Emmer: and they were not able to tell the house of their fathers, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:

Ezra 2:62 These sought their genealogy as though they had been reckoned, but they were not found; and they were removed from the priesthood.

Nehemiah 7:64 These sought the pedigree of their company, and it was not found, and they were removed from the priesthood.

Note: The argument that this was only for the priesthood is irrelevant. The proof that one’s genealogy is of Abraham or an Israelite still needs to be proven.

The theological teaching that the Jewish return to Palestine is a prophetic fulfillment is a fable.
