Pastors/Clergy:

What is the Clergy?

The definition of Clergy is: those who are ‘ordained’ as religious leaders and servants of God.

What is ordained?

The definition for ordained is: one that is appointed by a special ceremony and declaration. This can be (but not limited to) a minister, priest, elder, rabbi, etc.
Meaning: to place.

Note: Just because men ordain other men as leaders, does not mean that God has anointed and/or placed those men as leaders of His people.

What is a religious leader?

The definition of a religious leader is: one that has a tenet; a doctrinal belief and faith; a creed (teaching); and theological instruction by training and/or education.
They are to be the principal director and head over an assembly, group, and/or congregation (church).

Note: The idea that God called any Clergy into this vocation is erroneous.
God never called anyone into an organized religion, denominational or not.
The Clergy (in almost all Christian circles) is a religious occupation, and they are not servants to God. They are servants to their religious profession and/or beliefs.

Do churches need Clergy as a ‘head’ leader?

The concept of Clergy as an untouchable leader or head of a church (assembly and/or congregation) is not Biblical.

Elders of the assembly are to have authority over each other in the sense of mutual submission.

The elders and the congregation are to be in submission to God’s Word, and God’s Word only. (This cannot include anyone’s theology.)

The entire congregation is to hold each other to the Word of God, no matter what position one holds.

Ephesians 5:21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

Note: There are no Scriptural precedents for a ‘head pastor, priest’, etc.
That position was conceived by the Roman Catholic Church with the papacy (Pope) as the infallible head.

The Bible does not state or imply the appointment for a head pastor or priest over any congregation, but it does for elders.

Titus 1:5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you might set in order what remains, and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,

Church leadership and the congregation are to be in obedience to God’s Word.

Note: There is not one example in the Bible for one as ‘head’ over any congregation, in order to accomplish a teaching and/or doctrine of one’s theology, a tradition, a personal belief, or any other agenda.
One mistaken idea, and grasp for justification of a church head is that Paul was a ‘head’ leader of a church. This is solved by the Scriptures.

Ephesians 1:20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, :21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. :22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, :23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.

Colossians 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything.

Note: It is Christ that is the head of those that are in His church. Paul was not, and Biblically, never any other man.

Christ is not, and can never be the head of any organized Christian religion and/or their assemblies.

Note: It is true that Christian Clergy can be the head of religious organizations and/or congregations, but it is impossible for any religious leader(s) to be head over any Christian church (assembly) that is Biblical.

Many Christian Clergy are well meaning and devout to the ministry of their flock.

Some are dedicated to what they refer to as a ‘calling’ for the leadership of their religion and their church.

But, their traditions, myths, fables, extra-biblical and un-Biblical teachings are not from God, and do not glorify Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is not Christianity, and Christianity as a religion is not a follower of Jesus Christ.

Anyone (clergy or not) that makes the claim that they teach and/or preach the gospel of Jesus Christ must be tested by the Scriptures.

What ‘Biblical gospel’ is to be taught and/or preached?

Galatians 1:11 And I make known to you, brethren, the good news that were proclaimed by me, that it is not according to man, :12 for neither did I from man receive it, nor was I taught it, but through a revelation of Jesus Christ,

Note: The gospel that was preached by Paul was not taught from men [i.e. someones religion and/or theological idea].

1 Corinthians 9:12 If others share the right over you, do we not more? Nevertheless, we did not use this right, but we endure all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:13 Because of the proof given by this ministry they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all,

2 Corinthians 10:14 For we are not overextending ourselves, as if we did not reach to you, for we were the first to come even as far as you in the gospel of Christ;

1 Thessalonians 3:2 and we sent Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you as to your faith,

What was/is the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

Note: The religion that is being taught and preached from many of the pulpits is not the gospel of Christ or the kingdom of God. Most sermons are combined with theological teachings that are perverted, which contaminates and poisons the mind.

Seminaries and Bible colleges teach theological biases; not Biblical truths. This is a proven fact when sermons are compared with the Bible.

Note: Nowhere in the Scriptures will anyone find the teachings of Christ that are about: Hell; Futurism; Preterism; Historicism; his second coming on earth and his kingdom on this earth; Easter; Christmas; immortal spirit of man; Lucifer; fallen angels; a trinity; Israel’s return in the future; that Jesus was a Jew; original sin; a second resurrection; the end of the world; predestination; pastors/clergy as the head of any congregation and/or church; the Christian method for obtaining tithes and offerings; etc.

What does the Bible say about these teachings?

2 John 1:9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. :10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; :11 for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.

Note: John states that anyone not teaching Christ should not be let into your house, and to even give them a greeting is participating in their evil.
This is not some person with a faith, religion, or religious doctrine that is in opposition to another. This means anyone that teaches or preaches a doctrine other than Christ.

The preaching of Christian Clergy is theology, traditions, myths and fables.

This is coupled many times with deceit and lies, no matter if it is deliberate or not.

What does the Bible teach about the rejection of truth by clergy?

Jeremiah 10:21 For the shepherds have become foolish, and have not sought the Lord; therefore the whole pasture has failed, and have been scattered.

Note: Has not the body of Christ been scattered into thousands of different denominations, led by the teachings and doctrines of clergy with their theology?

Jeremiah 23:16 Thus saith the Lord Almighty, Hearken not to the words of the prophets: for they frame a vain vision for themselves; they speak from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord. :17 They say to them that reject the word of the Lord, There shall be peace to you; and to all that walk after their own lusts, and to everyone that walks in the error of his heart, they have said, No evil shall come upon thee.

Note: Are not the ideas that are taught by clergy about religious tolerance, compromise, respect of all religions, equality, the brotherhood of man [lets love everybody], repentance solves everything, and theological teachings, the modern day equivalent to these ancient verses? Are not the multi-million dollar rackets ran by ‘prophecy teachers’ enough proof of the validity of these verses?

Hosea 4;4-6 “You priests! You shall stumble by broad daylight; My people are dying for want of knowledge and you reject my knowledge so I reject you from my priesthood”.

Note: Clergy states that the Bible is, and has, the same meaning for us today as when this was written. Do not sermons that are preached today prove the truth from Hosea, and the error of theology? Is not the deception imposed upon those seeking answers and truth, enough of an example to prove the nonsense of theology?
